Abstract

The rapid growth of urbanization, industrial production, and consumption has significantly increased the volume and complexity of municipal and industrial solid waste. Conventional waste sorting methods are often labor-intensive, time-consuming, and susceptible to human error, thereby limiting the efficiency of recycling processes. This study proposes an artificial intelligence (AI)-based intelligent system for real-time waste detection, classification, and automatic sorting to support sustainable waste management. The proposed framework integrates computer vision, deep learning, object detection, sensor technologies, and automated control mechanisms.
