Abstract
This article analyzes Osh, one of the traditional dishes of the Uzbek people, and the names of wedding ceremonies associated with osh and palov among the Uzbeks of Northern Afghanistan. As is well known, ethnographisms are connected to customs and traditions developed by a people over centuries. In this regard, most of the ceremonies held during weddings are directly associated with the lexemes osh and palov. Names of Palov ceremonies for Uzbeks in northern Afghanistan, Annotated Dictionary of the Uzbek Language, the “Explanatory Dictionary of Uzbek Ethnographies” mentions that the Palov is associated with the names of ceremonies.
