Abstract

Basketball is one of the most popular team sports in the world, characterized by high intensity, complex technical skills, rapid tactical decision-making, and significant physical and psychological demands. This scientific article examines basketball from a multidisciplinary perspective, focusing on its historical development, physical fitness requirements, technical and tactical components, training methodology, injury prevention, and its pedagogical significance in physical education and sports training systems. The analysis is based on contemporary scientific literature and aims to provide a comprehensive overview of basketball as a modern competitive sport and an effective means of physical development. The results highlight that basketball training contributes significantly to the development of speed, agility, endurance, coordination, and social skills, making it an important sport in both elite and educational contexts.
