Abstract

Paremiology, the study of proverbs, has increasingly gained attention in modern linguistic research due to its interdisciplinary nature and its relevance to cultural, cognitive, and pragmatic studies. This article examines the evolving role of paremiology within contemporary linguistics, highlighting its contribution to understanding language structure, cultural identity, and communicative competence. The results indicate that paremiology plays a crucial role not only in preserving cultural heritage but also in advancing linguistic theory, particularly in pragmatics, cognitive linguistics, and discourse analysis.
